Welcome to October in Glen Innes Highlands, we are well into Spring and we have been loving the stunning images you have been sharing to social media. Spring in Glen Innes Highlands features a burst of vibrant new life.


The World Heritage National parks come alive with fauna while native flora blooms. Don’t miss our very own Gibraltar Waratah flower during these months, or the displays of golden wattle blooming along our regions country driving routes. Even the township's residential suburbs become an attraction with beautiful lines of Spring colour on our tree-lined streets.

Wander along the historic main street of Glen Innes.

Glen Innes’ Colonial main street is the central shopping hub, located a block from the New England Highway, housing a range of boutique stores breathing new life into our heritage buildings.

Enjoy the history and be captivated by the range of boutiques, the bookshop and organic food store as well as craft and beautiful florist. You'll find a range of quality Australian clothing and shoes, boutique giftware and children’s clothing. Not only are there unique products to buy, but you can enjoy being welcomed with country hospitality and good old-fashioned service.


The time for adventure is now, explore the outdoors among our natural wonders.

If you are an active outdoors type then you will certainly enjoy exploring the Glen Innes Highlands.

With many rivers, creeks, national parks and scenic driving routes the region is perfect for your adventure holiday. There are some great spots for kayaking and canoeing, fishing, fossicking, hiking, mountain biking or road touring. Or if you prefer a leisurely round of golf at one of our Golf Courses… we have three!

What's on in Glen Innes Highlands?

A new Pottery exhibition curated by the Glen Innes Pottery Club will be on display from 12 October to 13 November 2020. ‘Claytime’ will highlight pieces from local established potters as well as newer members ready to show off their work. The exhibition will be on display at the Glen Innes Art Gallery, 71 Grey Street Glen Innes. Many works are for sale so don’t miss this one.

The Panorama Project, an incentive form Arts North West will be displaying the results from their personal sketchbook program starting in October. The tour is planned to launch in Glen Innes around October 19 and be in town for three weeks at the Glen Innes Library, from there it heads to Tenterfield, then onto Inverell and Guyra after Christmas. The show is planned to be at each community for around 1 to 3 weeks finishing in Warialda in July 2021. See their website for more details.

It's wonderful to see that movies are back at The Chapel Theatre in Glen Innes. The team there have been busy doing some lovely touches to the interior as well as ensuring that the theatre aligns with Covid Safe planning and implementation. Seats are limited so bookings are essential. See their website for all movie listings and ticketing options.
