Christmas in the Highlands – Illuminations is a vibrant, community driven, one-evening annual event that transforms Grey Street into a festive wonderland. This event blends Christmas lights, creative lighting, cultural traditions, retail, and food experiences, including Spend In Glen promotion. Art activations, live entertainment, markets and a bold street carnival atmosphere bring community and visitors together for a joy-filled evening celebrating the start of the holiday and summer season.
Originally established as a community Christmas event, it is now transitioning into a major regional placemaking, cultural and visitor economy driver through successfully securing Transport NSW Open Street three-year funding (2025-2027).
Council invites community members to be part of the Christmas in the Highlands - Illuminations large scale projects. Delivering five workshops Christmas Animation Creation and Gobo Imaginations across September, there is a time and location to suit most.
Draw, colour, crayon, paint and dream a Christmas inspired artwork which will be animated and projected giant size at the Christmas in the Highlands - Illuminations event - Saturday 28 November 2026.
