Sunday 5th July - Tynwald Day - Australian Standing Stones
Sun July 5 is Tynwald Day, National day of the Isle of Man and we will be celebrating up at the Australian Standing Stones from 3pm. There will be music, food and flag lowering ceremony at 5pm. The Australian Standing Stones Management Board will be there on hand to answer questions regarding our amazing megaliths. Bring your camera and help us record this special day.
Friday 3rd July - Lone Piper returns to Town Square
Friday July 3 sees the return of our Town Hall piper at 12pm. A tradition here in Glen Innes that had to take a break during our lockdown. Make sure you stop by and support our wonderful businesses, accompanied by the historical and uplifting lilt of these traditional Celtic instruments.
Saturday 21st September to Friday 3rd October - GlenFest
Music festival GlenFest has been officially launched. It looks like September is going to be a wonderful month starting with the Free Older Persons Concerts featuring Heather Rose and Peter Harries Jnr with an early 1900’s silent movie at the Glen Innes Town Hall and official recognition of the United Nations International Day of Older persons. There will be a Free Youth Music Workshop at The Youth Booth, a Friday Night Charity Concert with Super Massive and local support band at the Glen Innes Services Club, a Saturday Night Spectacular starring Fiona O’Shea and the Passengers and Thor Phillips at the Glen Innes Bowling Club. There is also the GlenFest Arts prize. The theme is Companion Animals, art and photography, great prizes, no entry fee. Should be an amazing weekend of music, art and community. Selected entries will be displayed throughout shop windows throughout the CBD creating an exciting ‘Pop Up’ gallery. Pop it in your diaries Sept 21 to Oct 3, 2020.
