Glen Innes Small Business Week Events
16 - 20 October

Next week, we're hosting a week of events for our local small business community as part of NSW Small Business Month. It’s all about providing an opportunity for small businesses to take the time to work on their business in October!

This year's theme is My Small Business and is focused on providing assistance and tips on how small businesses can strengthen their business in seven key areas – branding and marketing, cyber security, business health, e-commerce, current market conditions, resilience and teams.

Accidental Counsellor Foundations

In community services work, we may often be the first point of contact for someone in crisis needing immediate assistance. Even without a formal qualification in counselling, this workshop provides the basic skills and tools to be able to step into the shoes of an accidental counsellor momentarily, to respond appropriately and effectively to people in crisis or distress where there may not be a professional immediately available.

Mental illness can affect anyone at any time, but how many of us would know what to do, or what to say, if someone is distressed of in a crisis situation?

Most of us have heard of or undertaken training in physical first aid, but when it comes to mental health or emotional first aid, we are not so well-trained or equipped.

Drop into Highlands Hub from 11.00am to 1.00pm on the second Wednesday of each month, where a  member of the Glen Innes Business Chamber will be available in the communal space to:

  • answer any questions you might have about the Glen Innes Business Chamber or memberships;
  • have a chat about their ongoing work within the business community or discuss suggestions for upcoming events or projects; 
  • raise any business-related concerns that the chamber can pass on to the appropriate body (e.g. Council)

Highlands Naturopathy

Highlands Naturopathy is a holistic health service that combines the traditional use of natural medicines with evidence-based naturopathic practice. Practitioner, Jean Martain, uses nutritional and herbal medicine individually formulated for her client's unique needs and can refer patients for pathology testing.

We checked in with Jean about her experience working at The Hub.
