Welcome to Glen Innes Severn Council’s newsletter informing committees, community groups, businesses, and not for profits of potential funding opportunities through grants.

Hello to everyone. This is my first Bid Blast as the new Glen Innes Severn Council Grants Officer.
I look forward to meeting you all.
Again, this month there is an enormous amount of funding and assistance available now and potentially coming during this difficult period.
This bid blast focuses on a few of these under the categories of Active Kids Vouchers, Creative Kids Vouchers, Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program, ING Dreamstarter, Drought Assistance, Bushfire Assistance, COVID-19 Assistance and Business Grants.

Active Kids is a program to help NSW families meet the cost of getting their kids into sport and active fitness and recreation activities.
If you’re a parent, carer or guardian, the student will be eligible if they are:

You can use the voucher for registration, participation or membership costs with an approved Active Kids provider.

The Creative Kids Rebate can be put towards the cost of registration, participation or tuition fees for creative and cultural activities such as music lessons, language classes, coding and digital, visual and performing arts.
You can use the voucher for registration, participation and tuition costs with approved Creative Kids providers.

Looking forward to next season, your club could now access funding to assist in the purchase and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). With the first assessment date set for 23 November 2020 now is the time to apply. For Glen Innes Severn that falls into the Zone 2 grading this means with up to 50% funding or a maximum of $1300 is available for eligible local sporting clubs.
An AED is a life saving device which delivers a controlled shock to an individual experiencing cardiac arrest, increasing their chances of survival.
The Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program provides NSW sports clubs and councils the opportunity to acquire an AED package for their club or sports facility at a reduced cost.
Who is eligible to apply?
Sporting organisations and councils will be able to choose from a panel of approved AED Panel Service Providers and a variety of AED packaged services with the level of customer service that meets their needs. Zone 2 suppliers and approximate overall basic package costs can be found on the link listed above. Currently the overall basic package price from listed Zone 2 suppliers’ range between $2250 to $2900 overall depending on the supplier.
An AED package will include: An AED, AED familiarisation instruction (within 28 days of delivery) and a minimum of six years of essential AED maintenance
Applicants can request more than one AED.

Farm Innovation Fund

The Farm Innovation Fund provides low interest loans to helps farmers to:
Improve farm productivity by reducing risks and improve efficiencies by building fodder and grain storage facilities, sheds, fencing, roadworks and solar power conversions.
Manage adverse seasonal conditions by improving water efficiencies with irrigation systems, cap and piping of bores, new dams, install water tanks and desilting of ground tanks.
Ensure long term sustainability by increasing the viability of a farm business and improve pasture and soil health, plant trees for shade and wildlife corridors, eradicate weeds, flood proof property and fence riverbanks.
Drought Assistance Fund

The NSW Government is offering $50,000 interest-free loans to primary producers to implement systems and management practices that enhance the sustainability of their farm business. The loan term is seven years and there are no repayments required in the first two years. This loan will fund:
Special Disaster Grant - Bushfires

The Special Disaster Grant - Bushfire is available to eligible primary producers, following the declaration of a Natural Disaster by the NSW Government, and following the approval of the Australian Government. This assistance measure is only provided in event of Natural Disasters that have severely affected communities, regions or sectors.
In the Northern Inland, businesses in the Armidale, Glen Innes Severn, Inverell, Tenterfield and Walcha LGA's affected by the bushfires may be eligible.
Grants are provided to help pay for the costs of clean up, reinstatement activities and emergency measures associated with the immediate recovery of primary production enterprises.
Small Business Bushfire Recovery Grants

If you're a small business or non-profit organisation, and you've suffered direct damage to your premises or equipment as a result of the NSW 2019–2020 bushfire event (beginning in August 2019), you may be eligible for a bushfire recovery grant.
The bushfire recovery grant of up to $50,000 is to help pay for costs associated with the clean-up and reinstatement of a small business or non-profit organisation’s operations.
A Hold on Evictions for Renters

Evictions will be put on hold over the next 6 months for commercial and residential tenancies in financial distress, who are unable to meet their commitments due to the impact of the coronavirus. Commercial tenants, landlords and financial institutions are encouraged to talk about short term agreements.
The Government has also announced a mandatory code of conduct for commercial tenancies to support small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) affected by the coronavirus.

Assistance for Affected Regions, Communities and Industries

The Australian Government has set aside an initial $1 billion allocation to support those regions and communities that have been disproportionately affected by the economic impacts of the Coronavirus, including those heavily reliant on industries such as:

Provides funding to not-for-profit organisations to deliver services that are separate and additional to the Fair Work Ombudsman’s statutory functions.
Entrepreneurs’ Infrastructure Programme

The Entrepreneurs' Programme is the Australian Government’s flagship initiative for business competitiveness and productivity.

Farm Household Allowance
